POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:
The University of Alabama
Department of Art and Art History
Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Full-Time Assistant Professor of Drawing
Nine month, tenure-track, beginning fall 2010

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate is a practicing artist who is dedicated to teaching undergraduate and graduate students in various drawing media. Experience with a wide variety of drawing techniques and approaches is desirable, along with a strong dedication to drawing as an art form. College level teaching experience in Drawing beyond teaching assistantship is preferred, with demonstrated excellence in the teaching of studio foundation courses. The candidate must posses a willingness to be involved in university service. MFA or equivalent is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Teach all levels of drawing.
* Manage drawing curriculum and facilities.
* Conduct scholarly research.
* Engage in departmental and university service.

APPOINTMENT:
Beginning August 16, 2010

DEPARTMENT OF ART AND ART HISTORY:
The department, with 15 full-time faculty and 8 part-time faculty, offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Studio Art, the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with concentrations in ceramics, digital media, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Graduate degrees include the Master of Arts degree in Art History and Studio Art, and the Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. The department, which has 265 undergraduate and 19 graduate art majors, offers instruction to approximately 1,650 undergraduate students per semester. The Department of Art and Art History is in the College of Arts and Sciences and is centrally located on the campus of The University of Alabama.
